On Monday, 5,828 new Corona infections were reported in Austria. This is 805 fewer than yesterday and 405 fewer cases a week ago.

No more deaths were recorded from Sunday to Monday. That was according to figures released by the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) on Monday.

Corona: seven-day incidence on Monday at 575.3
The seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants on Monday was 575.3. The province with the highest incidence of this was Upper Austria with 746.1 cases, followed by Tyrol (639.1), Carinthia (602.8), Salzburg (600.2), Lower Austria (554.8), Styria (527.2), Vorarlberg (493.5), Vienna (483.8) and Burgenland (476.9).

Six thousand two hundred thirty-three new Corona infections last Monday.
A week ago Monday, 6,233 new infections and five deaths were reported. However, the Austria-wide seven-day incidence at that time was much lower at 413.4 cases per 100,000 population, the highest in Upper Austria at 463.8 and the lowest in Vorarlberg at 278.8 cases. Active cases were counted at 50,471 a week ago and 71,839 this Monday, 3,445 more than the day before and 21,368 more than the previous week.

720 Corona vaccinations were performed on Sunday
On Sunday, 720 vaccinations were performed, of which 550 were boosters – a fraction of the figure for the previous week, where 5,385 of 6,227 Sunday vaccinations were boosters. Currently, 5,293,132 people in Austria, or 58.6 percent of the population, are validly vaccinated. 656,238 Austrians have now received a booster vaccination. The highest protection rate on Monday was in Burgenland (66.0 percent), followed by Lower Austria with 61.9 percent. Next in line were Styria (60.4 percent), Tyrol (57.3 percent), Vienna (56.7 percent), Carinthia (55.7 percent), Vorarlberg (55.6 percent), Salzburg (54.9 percent), and bringing up the rear was Upper Austria with 54.3 percent.

20,713 Corona deaths since the pandemic
In total, the pandemic has already claimed 20,713 lives. 4,987,148 Austrians have already recovered from an infection, and 19,278,143 vaccinations have been administered. Figures on hospitalized patients with Covid-19 were not yet released Monday.
